XOLO-Biography
Xolo paints nature from a unique perspective. He works with the personal prejudices, memories, emotions, hopes, and passing thoughts of any person and makes room for all of it in his work. Rather than painting a visual representation of a tree or landscape, his focus is on revealing the human feelings that exist in wild places. He sees everything as art, and by engaging deeply in it, the realities and truths, both uncomfortable and exhilarating, of being human are unveiled.
Xolo's fifteen years as a tattoo artist inform the sensibilities he brings to line and form. Using oil on canvas, he accents the surface and shape of the canvas rather than seeking to obliterate it. With colorful floating forms and sharp geometric lines that evoke horizons, portals, music, constellations, equations and clouds, he shows the interconnected landscape and our experience within it.
